GROVE Staking

Staking GROVE mints stGROVE, the staked form of the token that carries voting power in Grove governance. There is no minimum stake. This page walks through staking, unstaking, and managing your delegation in the Grove App.

How to stake GROVE

  1. Go to the Grove App.
  2. Connect your wallet.
  3. Open the Staking page.
  4. Click Stake. The Stake GROVE modal opens.
  5. Enter the amount of GROVE you want to stake, or use the 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% shortcuts.
  6. Choose a delegate to vote on your behalf, or select none to vote directly on Grove's Snapshot page. Delegation always covers your full staked balance; you cannot delegate only part of it.
  7. Review the transaction overview, including the unstake delay.
  8. Click Approve, then Stake, and confirm both transactions in your wallet.
  9. Your stGROVE balance appears on the Staking page once the transaction confirms.

How to unstake GROVE

  1. With your wallet connected, open the Staking page.
  2. Click Manage.
  3. Select Unstake at the top of the modal.
  4. Enter the amount you want to unstake.
  5. Review the transaction details.
  6. Click Unstake and confirm in your wallet.

After you confirm the unstake, the Staking page shows the amount being unstaked and the exact date and time your tokens become claimable. Once that date is reached, the claim modal becomes available and you can claim your tokens.

How the unstaking window works

Unstaking runs on a fixed calendar of two-week epochs. A request becomes claimable when the epoch after the current one ends. Your wait is always the same formula: the remainder of the current epoch, plus one full epoch. In total, between two and four weeks.

Two examples:

  • Request at the start of an epoch: you wait for that epoch to finish (about two weeks), then one more full epoch. Close to four weeks in total.
  • Request at the end of an epoch: remaining days of the current epoch, then one full epoch. Just over two weeks in total.

The unstaking window keeps voting power stable during active governance cycles. During the unstaking process, tokens lose voting power.

How to manage your delegation

  1. With your wallet connected, open the Staking page.
  2. Click Manage.
  3. Select the Delegate tab in the modal.
  4. Choose a delegate if you have not delegated yet, or select a different one to change your delegation.
  5. Click Approve and confirm in your wallet.

Delegation always applies to your full staked balance. Your delegate's voting activity is recorded publicly on Snapshot.
