The Seeds Program
Seeds are a non-transferable record of participation in Grove governance. They are recorded daily against delegated stGROVE, weighted by how long you have held GROVE and by where that GROVE came from. Seeds have no monetary value and confer no claim, entitlement, or right of any kind.
What Seeds are, and are not
Seeds are an onchain-derived record of governance participation, nothing more. They are non-transferable, no market for them exists, and they do not represent or confer any claim, entitlement, or right to any token, distribution, payment, governance right, or other benefit.
Seeds also do not affect governance itself. Voting power is determined solely by your staked GROVE balance. Seeds are a separate record and do not increase voting power or governance rights.
Becoming eligible
Two conditions must both hold, and they must hold together:
- Your GROVE is staked as stGROVE.
- Your stGROVE voting power is delegated.
Staked but undelegated GROVE accrues nothing. Because delegation always applies to your full staked balance, choosing to vote directly on Snapshot instead of delegating means no Seeds are recorded for that balance.
Removing your delegation stops accrual. If you partially unstake, Seeds continue to be recorded only for the portion that remains both staked and delegated.

How accrual is weighted
Seeds accrue daily on your eligible balance, multiplied by the weightings that apply to you. All applicable weightings are cumulative. The program currently applies three.
Duration weighting
Participation is weighted by how long you have held GROVE — whether unstaked, staked, or delegated. The weighting is tracked per wallet, with the holding period measured from 6 July 2026.
The app shows this as an average days held figure and a current duration multiplier. It is an average, so increases or decreases in your balance move it: adding GROVE recently pulls the average down, and the longer a balance sits untouched the more weight it carries.
Early participation weighting
A 3× weighting applied to Seeds accrued during the first 14 days of the program, recognising early participation in Grove governance. That window closed on 25 August 2026 at 16:00 UTC and the weighting no longer applies to new accrual.
Ecosystem participation weighting
A 1.5× weighting applies to GROVE received through Ecosystem Rewards that is subsequently staked and delegated. It remains in effect while those tokens remain staked, and resets if the wallet's GROVE or stGROVE balance decreases.
In the app, the eligible balance bar splits your delegated stGROVE into the portion carrying this weighting and the portion that does not.
Reading your balance
The Seeds panel on the Staking page shows:

Seeds are computed off-chain from onchain history rather than read from a contract, and the panel refreshes roughly every 15 minutes. Each panel carries the timestamp of the data it is showing. If you have just delegated and still see Not eligible, your status appears at the next refresh.
